Hi, I'm Kerry. I'm a qualified Primary teacher based in North East Fife, Scotland, with more than 17 years experience working with children from ages 4 to 12. A couple of years ago, I had an idea about combining my teaching experience with my love of cooking, to teach children how to cook in a safe environment.
I believe that cooking should be a creative and fun experience for children based on a sound knowledge of what they eat and where it comes from. As a teacher, I know just how many learning opportunities come with learning to cook - from building literacy skills when reading labels and recipes, developing maths/numeracy through measuring volume, weight or temperature, looking at maps to find where foods come from, observing reactions and reversible or irreversible change in science.... the list is endless!
My aim is to develop skills in the kitchen, build confidence and instil a lifelong love of cooking!

Classes are for ages 5 to 14yr.
In order to ensure children enjoy the best experience and attention, classes are limited to a maximum of 6 spaces.
Children will eat the lovely food they make or, in the case of sweet treats, they can take home to share! Price includes use of all equipment and aprons, any resources needed for activities whilst things cook or bake, and a box to take home any baking.
Classes are currently based in my home in Dairsie (between Cupar and St. Andrews) - we have a lovely open plan kitchen and dining area which is perfect for cookery classes.
In addition to my Primary Education qualification, I am PVG checked and hold the Food Safety & Hygiene Level 2 qualification and Allergen Awareness training. I am registered with Fife Council as a food business and have been approved by Environmental Health. I also have the appropriate insurance cover.
Please note that payment is due at time of booking.
I am offering cookery classes for 4 weeks over the summer holidays. We will be cooking a variety of recipes suitable for a range of ability and age. The classes have been organised by age to allow for the differences in equipment used e.g. hob.

Cancellation
Things happen, especially with children. However, as ingredients need to be purchased in advance of classes, refunds cannot be given if a cancellation is made within 48hr of the class. However, a credit note will be provided or alternatively, you can ‘send a friend’ in place of your child (provided they complete a registration form beforehand). Cancellations must be made prior to the class.
Illness
Children catch bugs! They must not attend classes if they have had sickness or diarrhoea within the previous 48hr i.e. it must be 48hr since their last bout of illness before they can attend (just like with school), thank you!
